Our air-abrasive preparation facilities are amongst the finest in Britain.
Air-abrasive fossil preparation is where a micro-sandblaster is used to direct a stream of compressed air containing an abrasive powder through a handpiece at fossil-bearing geological matrix.
We use Sodium bicarbonate, Dolomite, Iron Powder and Aluminium oxide as our abrasive powders dependent on the composition of the geological matrix.
We can combine our facilities with the digitisation department for access to CT scanning before preparing fragile fossil specimens if requested.
We provide a Method Transcript (MT) as part of our service which is a written record of each technique used consecutively in preparing the fossil(s).
Our prep services are priced at £25/hr + VAT
Turnaround time is variable dependent on business work loads.
Typically 1 week for 'small' fossils to several months for 'large' fossils.
