Course Overview
Our Fossil Preparation Courses are available to anyone who wishes to develop fossil preparation skills. These private lessons allow you to gain hands-on experience in palaeontological preparation techniques and methods in a real working laboratory.
Available as 1:1 classes or for small groups (max 3 individuals). Each course is tailored towards what you would like to learn and the skills you wish to develop.
We offer two types of courses, Intermediate and Advanced (see below).
Each course is designed to be a full day training course lasting 5 hours with a 1 hour lunch break (10am - 4pm).

Course Overview
Our intermediate courses are for those who have had a basic introduction to fossil prep but now want to develop their skills.
In these courses you will learn how to professionally use air pens (pneumatic scribes) to prepare fossils.
You will learn how to use a ZPT-TR / KM-FBQ for rough work, ZPT-VR / KM-TT for general work, and a ZPT-MR / KM-SL for fine work.
On these courses you will also learn the basic techniques of adhesion / consolidation in fossil prep and how to maintain a pneumatic setup.
Certificate
Once you have completed 30 hours (6 days) of intermediate training you shall receive a Level 2 Training Certificate.
Course Overview
Our advanced courses are for those with fossil preparation experience who want to take their skills to the next level.
In these courses you will learn how to prepare fossils to industry standards using a wide array of tools.
In addition to developing skills with the tools available in the intermediate courses, you will have access to ultra fine air pens for high-grade detail work, ultrasonic pens, air hammers for preparing large specimens, air abrasives (various powders and units), air grinders, chemical techniques and powerful microscopes.
On these courses you will learn how to operate and maintain a palaeontology laboratory.
Certificate
Once you have completed 40 hours (8 days) of advanced training you shall receive a Level 3 Training Certificate.
